a) High-speed video recording. 

Setting up high-speed video equipment can be overwhelming. There are several aspects to consider. For instance, what is a suitable frame rate and exposure time? Also, the angle of visualization can reveal features that remain hidden from a different perspective. The more challenging part is the illumination of the scene. With higher frame rate the time to record images is reduced, thus the scene gets darker.

Triggering and/or synchronization of the camera with other devices is a complex process that requires some planning. This is a valuable tool as it provides information from diverse sources, for instance a camera and a temperature or pressure sensor, or from different cameras. The cameras can focus on the scene observing a different perspective of the same event. This provides a more complete view of the object under study. 

b) Schlieren visualization

We can setup a test to visualize fluid flow by means of Schlieren photography. This technique reveals fluid flow changes that are otherwise not visible by the human eye, for instance shock waves and convection currents, as shown in this sample video

c) Data analysis.

The footage captured often contains beautiful images. Moreover, it contains valuable information such as displacement, velocity and reaction time to name a few. This makes the footage useful as it allows the user to make informed decisions to optimize the process under scrutiny. 

d) Post processing. 

The videos recorded create a large amount of data. We can obtain valuable information contained in the images. After that the results are summarized so our customer  extract from the valuable insight for their process or main activity.
